I moved to New York without a car and quickly set out to find one. Someone told me to try Zac Steele. I didn't get the impression he enjoyed helping me out, but I got a great car that has been working great for two years. Then he sent me over to his brother, Matt, for insurance. Matt has been great, and we went to him for renter's insurance, too. He worked with us when my husband was out of work so we could get our payments in on time. Overall, the Steele family are great people and I am grateful to have them.
It's unfortunate that I have to leave this review here, but Stan Steele's son (who operates out of Stan's business) does not have his own page. DO NOT buy a car from Zac Steele. I purchased a used car from him last winter. The car's turbo blew within a week of owning it. When I called Zac, he tried to pull a fast one on me and say since the car had >100K miles it was not his problem. Unfortunately for him, he did not know NYS law. After having to call his father, they provided me with a loaner while the repair was being done. Incredibly, the loaner was the same year, make, and model as my car; and the turbo on that also blew! After being provided with another(!) loaner, the repair was completed with their mechanic. That should have been the end of the story, yet here I am less than a year later WITH ANOTHER BLOWN TURBO. Zac Steele sells lemons, just don't bother.
I recently moved to New York and transferred my policies to the closest State Farm agent. They didn't apply my discounts correctly and I almost lost out on my 6 year safe driving discount. I finally got things straightened out and switched to a different State Farm agent since I wasn't too impressed with the first one.
Matt was great. He answered questions via phone and email, during business hours and after. He gave me multiple different quotes when I asked about different options. I also liked that he had multiple insurance agencies that he could check to find the best policy for me. I definitely would recommend contacting him and at least having him review your coverage to see if he can save you money with a better policy.
In the meantime I had met Matt Steele and found out he was an independent insurance agent. I asked if it would be worthwhile to get some quotes for renters and auto insurance even though I doubted I would be able to beat my current premium with the discounts I had earned. He offered to run the numbers. Not only did he find me Allstate policies that will end up saving me over $250 a year, they were much more robust policies with liability limits several times what I had been getting with State Farm (the savings would be even more if I just wanted the equivalent policies). He explained that as I was just starting my career, I wanted to make sure I was covered with the proper limits.
